Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to a website that works for everyone.
Our Commitment
Brigantine Law believes every visitor deserves equal access to legal information, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or magnification, and people with visual, hearing, motor, or cognitive disabilities. Much of our work involves guardianship, elder law, and families supporting loved ones with disabilities. Building a website that works for everyone is part of how we practice, not an afterthought.
The Standard We Follow
This website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are the internationally recognized benchmark for web accessibility.
What We Have Done
- Every page can be navigated fully by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link.
- All pages use a logical heading structure and semantic landmarks so screen readers can move through content efficiently.
- Text colors throughout the site meet or exceed the WCAG contrast requirements against their backgrounds.
- All forms have properly labeled fields, support browser auto-fill, and announce their confirmation messages to screen readers.
- Our interactive tools, including calculators, checklists, and worksheets, are fully operable by keyboard and announce their results and state changes to assistive technology.
- Images carry descriptive alternative text, and purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- The site respects your device's reduced-motion preference and never disables zoom.
- Pages are tested in the browser with real keyboard interaction and computed-style checks, not just automated scans.
An Honest Note
No website can promise perfection, and we do not claim any formal certification, because no official WCAG certification exists. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time achievement. We review this site regularly and address issues as content and technology change. Some third-party services we rely on, such as embedded fonts and analytics, are outside our direct control, though we choose providers with accessibility in mind.
